The Wound Does Not Hurt He Who Is Dead by Al-Mutanabbi

The essence of this verse is holding on to one’s dignity and self-pride. Al-Mutanabbi likens those who accept being insulted and demeaned over and over to the dead, as they become desensitized to the negativity. In a sense, that degradation becomes them.

Al-Mutanabbi is considered as one of the greatest poets of the Arabic language. Much of his work has been translated into over 20 languages.
